I actually CASE'd my own card!  I made a birthday card for my friend, Virginia the other night, and I loved it so much, I wanted to recreate for our challenge!

For this card, I used a Hero Arts die cut on my Silhouette called "Carolers."  Don't you LOVE the little dog watching them sing?  I placed them on the Fleur de Lis Spellbinders nestie stamped with the Hero Arts Musical Background.  I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist and distressed the edges.  I placed it on ribbon and then a piece of DP from Basic Grey's Little Black Dress.  I curled the corner of that down.

The card base is made up of black, blue, and sand.  On the sand cardstock, I stamped a flourish by Technique Tuesday.  On top of that, I made a bouquet out of a Petaloo flower in marine blue sprayed with Glimmer Mist.  Finally, I added some flourish die cuts from Tim Holtz by Sizzix, again using Little Black Dress, some more ribbon and a trinket pin.  I'm really pleased how this came out.

Virginia's 50th Birthday Celebration!

One of the first people I met online when I started stamping was Virginia Lu.  She is one of the most talented paper artists I know.  I have always been in awe of her clean and simple style because it is the antithesis of what I do.  It is NOT easy to make a stunning card with a limited amount of elements!

Virginia's sense of humor, inner beauty, and spirited heart, draws everyone into her realm of creativity.  Just check out her blog, YES VIRGINIA, and you'll see what I mean!  She even has the family involved!  (I keep telling her that hubby, Dr. John, needs his own BLOG!)  Never too busy to offer help, Virginia is always there, full of encouragement when one's mojo has taken a vacation!

In honor of her upcoming 50th birthday, Virginia has generously offered a CHALLENGE to her cardmaking peeps with some awesome prizes.  Here is the card I made for her party!  I really glammed it up, because even though Virginia does clean and simple cards, she's really quite chic and elegant.
I'll be sending this off to her so she can have a little piece of my heart with her for her milestone.  I'm hoping to get to meet her next September for Scrapfest, along with some other awesome people we know!

Here's to you Virginia, for making our little part of the crafting world a welcome place for everyone who knows you, and for sharing your talent on your blog every day.  You are SO special!!  I HEART you!

Love,
Marcy

Santa - Please Put Some Mojo in my Stocking!

In the studio today working on finding my Christmas mojo! I put on some Christmas music to get me in the mood.

I've been working on a few projects and realized I had a card I forgot to post for the Hero Arts monthly challenge!  I had fun making it.  Believe it or not, it's a little more simple than I usually make!  I had to stop and put the embellies down.
I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist over a Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen on white cardstock for the bg.

For the flower, I used three shades of distress ink - tumbled glass, spun sugar, and bundled sage swiped on to the Merry Background stamp then stamped onto white cardstock.  Then I stamped the flower over it, using VersaMark, embossed it in gold and cut it out.

The leaves are bundled sage, embossed in gold and also cut out.
I added ribbon and pearl embellies.
HA stamps:
CG363 Poinsettia and Berries
CG194 Stencil Flower
CL459 Merry Christmas Trees
S5531 Merry Background

Well, off to create.  I have SO many cards to make for the holidays, I should move my bed in here!  More later...........

Hugs,
Marcy

Stamptacular Sunday Challenge #139 "Boy Oh Boy"

For our challenge this week at Stamptacular Sunday, you will create a card or project with a boy/man on it. How easy is that?!?  Be creative, but please don’t forget to stamp.  We are STAMPtacular after all!

Here is my design team card for some inspiration.
I ADORE A Day for Daisies images!  They are wonderful for coloring and paper piecing.  Their designs are creative and elegant, in a playful way.  I chose this adorable image, Van Gogh, to go with a bunch of different pp but used Basic Grey's Life of the Party for it's youthful feel.  I used one piece for the punched out top part of the card and another for cutting up into a pleasing border to go with the image. The bottom piece is from MME Lost & Found Two - Rosy.

After coloring the image with some primary color Copics, I positioned the embossing folder over it.  I love this folder because of the blank area inside the swirls.  It's great for sentiments too.  The swirls reminded me of the doodles I used to draw as a child!  I was going to make this a birthday card, but then remembered I had this Hero Arts stamp with the word "ART" on it and decided it would a perfect card for any occasion.

One tip - once I had all the paper elements assembled, I sprayed with Glimmer Mist.  I use this on most of my images colored with Copics because I think it gives it a watercolor-painted feel and just makes it look finished.  I also gave the artist's pallet a few dots of Glossy Accents to make it look like oil paints.
