"MASKING" for Halloween!

WOO HOO - I get to host this week at Our Creative Corner and I have a FAB challenge planned for you!

In the "spirit" AND theme of Halloween, we will be using the MASKING technique! HERE is a wonderful link for some inspiration. Show us your scariest creation using this technique!

Here is my design team card. I'm sorry about the photography, but for some reason the background looks brown and not the black it really is. I tried to adjust it MANY times, sigh.......
I chose a piece of text paper in black and white because text takes masking and wet embossing so well.  I chose a creepy sentiment stamp and embossed it in cricket green.  I cut out a piece of paper to make my own mask to cover the sentiment and then placed the Studio Calico graph mask over that.  I sponged the Black Soot distress ink over the graph, removed both masks, and voila!  I got a nice, clean sentiment that looked like it was floating on top of a spider web!  Of course I had to add the spider for effect!

Next, I embossed the street lamp in black and finished off with some wonky black stitching.  I love how it came out and in real life looks much better in black than brown!

Please drop by Our Creative Corner and join in on our challenge.  I promise you'll have fun with this technique!  Also, check out the awesome projects from the FAB design team - they are amazing!

Clean and Simple with a Twist

OR, maybe another better title would be, "How this card drove mama crazy in one week!"  Yes, this easy, peasy card took me one week to construct!  And the only twist for me was my stomach while putting it together!

Why, you ask?  I am left handed - right brained.  White space, in my world, doesn't exist.  It's full of riotous color and patterns. So now you can understand how agonizing this challenge was for me.

And speaking of the challenge, this week at Our Creative Corner, our hostess again is Meihsia Liu of Simply Paper Crafts.  She has given us our first Clean and Simple challenge but with a twist.  We are to add an element you would see in a kitchen.  After consulting my dear friend Virgina Liu, the QUEEN of Clean and Simple, here is my design team card.  Thanks V!  She gave me a "thumbs up" for my first try!
Please drop by Our Creative Corner and join in on our challenge.  I promise you'll have fun with this Clean and Simple technique!  Also, check out the awesome projects from the FAB design team - they are amazing!

It's Fall 'Round Here!

Fall in New England is by far my favorite season!  I've grown up here and the cool crisp air evokes many childhood memories, especially jumping in piles of leaves with my friends.

So for our challenge this week at Our Creative Corner, our fabulous hostess, Meihsia Liu of Simply Paper Crafts, asked us to create a circular, Fall themed card/project using the colors and objects of the season.  I couldn't wait to get started!

Here is my design team card.  I turned to Tim Holtz for my inspiration!
I immediately turned to one of Tim Holtz' videos and tutorial, HERE for my alcohol and glassine leaves.  My photo doesn't quite show the depth of color I achieved on the leaves, but they look so real in real life.
Please drop by Our Creative Corner and join in on our challenge.  I promise you'll have fun with this fabulous technique!  Also, check out the awesome projects from the FAB design team - they are amazing!
