Beach Season!

I have to thank Shari Carroll from Hero Arts for her help with my digital cut, Antique Engravings.  Also, Shari had a wonderful video on using distress inks as a background on paper. Between the two techniques, I am so pleased with how this card came out.  And JUST in case you were wondering where I got the sand for my little vial, shhhhhh - don't tell anyone, it's onion powder!  It was my DH's idea!

I started off by making the seashells. For the paper, I used the watercolor technique with distress inks Dried Marigold, Tea Dye, and Tattered Rose. After letting it dry completely, I ran it through my Silhouette machine using Hero Arts Antique Engravings Digital Die-Cut.  I then stamped each shell with VersaMark using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.  Finally, I white embossed each one.

Here are the supplies I used:
Hero Arts stamp CL383 Antique Engravings
Tim Holtz Distress Inks -  Dried Marigold, Tea Dye, and Tattered Rose
Bazzill white card stock
American Crafts striped paper
Bazzill tan card stock
PPI twine
Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 21
Memento Ink - Danube Blue
Embellishments - Dew Drops, glass vial, tag

My inspiration for this card was the memories I had of spending Summers at the beach.  Collecting shells, making crafts with my friends and seeing them artfully displayed as wreaths on the doors... and awning striped beach umbrellas dotting the shore.

I will be entering this card into two challenges - Hero Arts July2011A Digital and Wee Memories Challenge #61 Summertime. EDITED - I won the Hero Arts Challenge for Digital Design!!  WOO HOO!!

Thanks so much for visiting!
