Here is my design team card for some inspiration.
My inspiration for this card came at a very timely moment this week. I go up to the Finger Lakes each Summer to spend several days at my dear friend Laura's lake house with a group we call ourselves, the Girls of Summer. We are a group of chefs, some actively working and now some retired, who met over ten years ago. Too bad it doesn't look like we have a of a lot of fun, huh??!!
THE GIRLS OF SUMMER
With all my plans squared away for my trip, I wanted to tell the epic story with my card. It all centers around my sentiment, Make Every Moment Count, a stamp from the Hero Arts Special Time set. For the background, I first placed several stickers on yellow cardstock then ran it through my Sizzix Big Shot Pro using a Cuttlebug fleur de lis embossing folder. I love the look it gives you! I stitched the bg onto a piece of black cardstock. I used Cavallini decorative labels that were French in theme, because my friend Laura is a Francophile and has been to France at least three times. She must have been French in another life!
After watching a Jennifer McGuire video the other day, showing how to extend the length of the chevron from the Hero Arts Rectangle Frame Cuts die set, I used her technique on three different papers. Very cool idea! This chevron reminds me of the road I drive to get to the lake house - ups and downs around Seneca Lake.
I placed that design element on top of the die-cut sentiment and then under the stamped camera image. The stamp is from the Hero Arts Vintage set. I wet embossed it with Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder in Weathered Wood. Laura is a camera nut, snapping gorgeous pics wherever she goes. I have gone on virtual vacations holidays with her viewing her photos.
I then tucked in an acetate clock with an embellie from Tim Holtz. This reminds me of all the time we look forward to going to the lake - even from the minute we have to leave it! The countdown usually starts around January!
An out of date map came in handy for my final element, the rose. I used MFT Large Rose die-namics and a Mini Rose in the center of that. Laura has the greenest thumb I know! That and the AWESOME climate on the lake, yields not only grapes, but flowers like I've never seen before. Pure heaven!
